Terms of Service

These terms explain the rules for using KindFind safely, honestly, and responsibly.

KindFind connects people—it does not guarantee ownership or recovery.

Users must verify ownership independently and arrange returns safely. Never send money, disclose sensitive information, or meet in an unsafe place.

1. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using KindFind, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

These terms apply to visitors, registered users, people reporting lost or found items, claimants, and anyone communicating through KindFind.

2. What KindFind provides

KindFind provides tools that may allow users to:

  • Search public lost-and-found reports.
  • Create lost or found item reports.
  • Upload photographs and relevant descriptions.
  • Communicate about potential matches.
  • Privately verify ownership.
  • Update a report as active, reunited, closed, or removed.

KindFind is a communication and discovery platform. Unless expressly stated otherwise, KindFind does not possess, inspect, transport, insure, authenticate, buy, sell, or guarantee reported items.

3. Eligibility and minors

You must be legally capable of agreeing to these terms in your jurisdiction. Minors should use KindFind only with the involvement and supervision of a parent, guardian, school, or responsible adult.

Minors must not independently meet strangers, disclose a private home address, or share sensitive personal information.

4. Accounts and security

You must provide accurate information and keep your account details reasonably current. You are responsible for activity that occurs through your account.

You agree to:

  • Use a strong, unique password.
  • Keep passwords and verification codes confidential.
  • Notify KindFind about suspected unauthorised access.
  • Not create accounts for impersonation, fraud, harassment, or evasion of restrictions.

5. Lost-and-found reports and user content

You are responsible for the information, images, messages, and other content you submit.

You must ensure that your content:

  • Is truthful to the best of your knowledge.
  • Relates to a genuine lost-or-found item or legitimate platform use.
  • Does not expose private ownership evidence that should be used for verification.
  • Does not violate another person's privacy, copyright, trademark, or other rights.
  • Does not contain unlawful, threatening, abusive, discriminatory, deceptive, or sexually explicit material.
  • Does not include passwords, banking details, one-time codes, or highly sensitive identification information.

Photographs should focus on the item. Avoid unnecessarily showing faces, children, licence plates, private documents, addresses, or unrelated personal information.

6. Claims and ownership verification

A public report is not proof of ownership. A person reporting a found item should keep identifying details private and ask a claimant to describe information that was not publicly disclosed.

KindFind may provide tools or guidance for verification, but users remain responsible for deciding whether a claim is genuine.

Do not transfer an item merely because someone knows a public description. For valuable, sensitive, illegal, dangerous, or government-issued items, consider involving the relevant authority, venue management, transport operator, police, embassy, bank, or issuing organisation.

7. Safe return arrangements

  • Prefer a public, well-lit, monitored location.
  • Bring another trusted adult when appropriate.
  • Do not invite strangers to a private home.
  • Do not pay “release,” “shipping,” “verification,” or reward fees to an unknown person.
  • Do not provide bank credentials, passwords, or one-time codes.
  • Stop communicating and report the user if anything appears suspicious.

KindFind is not responsible for meetings or transfers arranged independently between users.

8. Prohibited conduct

You may not use KindFind to:

  • Make false reports, fraudulent claims, or impersonate another person.
  • Sell, auction, ransom, extort, or unlawfully retain found property.
  • Demand payment as a condition for returning property where prohibited by law.
  • Post stolen, counterfeit, illegal, dangerous, restricted, or prohibited items.
  • Harass, threaten, stalk, discriminate against, or exploit another person.
  • Collect user information for spam, advertising, profiling, or unrelated commercial use.
  • Upload malware, attempt unauthorised access, scrape the service, bypass limits, or disrupt platform operation.
  • Misuse reporting, messaging, claim, location, or contact features.
  • Use automated systems without written permission.
  • Help another person violate these terms.

9. Moderation and enforcement

KindFind may review, restrict, hide, edit, close, or remove content that appears unsafe, unlawful, misleading, irrelevant, duplicated, abandoned, or inconsistent with these terms.

We may warn, suspend, restrict, or terminate accounts; preserve relevant records; prevent repeat registrations; or refer serious matters to appropriate authorities where reasonably necessary.

Moderation does not mean KindFind has verified every report, claimant, user, photograph, item, or statement.

10. Content ownership and licence

You retain ownership of content you lawfully submit. You grant KindFind a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, resize, display, distribute, and process that content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, promote, and improve the service.

You confirm that you have the rights and permissions necessary to submit the content. This licence ends when the content is deleted from active systems, except for reasonable backup, security, legal, and archival retention.

KindFind's name, branding, interface, code, and original platform materials remain protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

11. Third-party services and links

KindFind may rely on or link to third-party hosting, maps, email, messaging, analytics, storage, app stores, or other services. Their terms and privacy practices apply separately.

KindFind is not responsible for third-party websites, services, communications, transactions, or content.

12. Service disclaimers

KindFind is provided on an “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee that:

  • A lost item will be found or returned.
  • A found item report is genuine or accurate.
  • A claimant is the lawful owner.
  • Reports, locations, dates, photographs, or messages are complete or correct.
  • The service will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

Nothing in these terms excludes rights or warranties that cannot lawfully be excluded.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, KindFind and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive loss arising from use of the service, user content, failed recovery, mistaken return, fraud, meetings, communications, third-party services, or unauthorised access.

Users remain responsible for their own decisions, verification, communications, meetings, transfers, and compliance with local law.

14. Responsibility for your misuse

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to be responsible for claims, losses, or costs caused by your unlawful content, misuse of KindFind, violation of these terms, or infringement of another person's rights.

15. Suspension, termination, and account deletion

You may stop using KindFind at any time and may request account deletion through available account or contact options.

KindFind may restrict or terminate access where reasonably necessary for safety, security, legal compliance, repeated violations, fraud prevention, or protection of the community.

Provisions that by their nature should survive termination, including ownership, disclaimers, liability, and dispute-related provisions, will continue to apply.

16. Applicable law and disputes

These terms are subject to the mandatory laws that apply to the user and the KindFind operator. Before beginning formal proceedings, users are encouraged to contact KindFind and attempt to resolve the issue informally.

The final governing-law and court-jurisdiction clause should be completed after the legal identity and operating country of KindFind are formally established.

17. Changes to the service or terms

KindFind may update features, safety rules, these terms, or the availability of the service. Updated terms will display a revised effective date. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated terms where permitted by law.

18. Contact KindFind

Questions about these terms, unsafe activity, disputed reports, account access, or content removal can be submitted through the KindFind contact form.
