Never publish passwords, one-time codes, bank information, government identification numbers, or private ownership details in a public lost-or-found report.
1. Overview
KindFind is a community-powered lost-and-found platform. It allows people to search public reports, report lost or found belongings, communicate about possible matches, verify ownership, and arrange safe returns.
This Privacy Policy applies to the KindFind website, mobile applications, and related services that link to this policy.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Name, email address, phone number, country, city, and account credentials.
- Lost-or-found report details, including title, description, category, date, location, status, and photographs.
- Messages, claims, ownership-verification answers, support requests, and safety reports.
- Profile preferences and information submitted when updating or deleting an account.
Information collected automatically
- IP address, browser or device type, operating system, language, referring page, and basic activity logs.
- Session, authentication, security, fraud-prevention, and visitor analytics information.
- Approximate or precise location only when your browser or device permits access.
KindFind does not need your password in readable form. Passwords should be stored using secure password hashing.
3. How we use information
We may use information to:
- Create and secure user accounts.
- Publish, search, filter, and manage lost-and-found reports.
- Suggest nearby or potentially matching reports.
- Enable private communication and ownership verification.
- Send service, security, report-status, or account notifications.
- Prevent spam, fraud, misuse, impersonation, and unsafe behaviour.
- Investigate complaints and enforce our Terms of Service.
- Improve performance, accessibility, reliability, and user experience.
- Comply with valid legal obligations.
4. Public lost-and-found reports
Information marked public may be visible to visitors without an account. This can include an item title, category, general description, photograph, city, country, incident date, and report status.
Do not include exact home addresses, private phone numbers, identification numbers, financial information, passwords, unique ownership evidence, or any detail that should be used privately to verify the real owner.
Search engines may index public pages. Removing a report from KindFind may not immediately remove cached copies held by external search engines or services.
5. Location information
KindFind may use country, city, approximate location, or device location to show relevant reports and help users search nearby. Browser-based location permission is optional.
You may deny location access and select your country and city manually. We recommend using a general public location instead of publishing an exact private address.
7. Data retention
We keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain security, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent repeated abuse, and meet legal obligations.
Public reports may remain available until they are marked reunited, removed by the user, removed by an administrator, or deleted under the platform's retention rules. Some security and audit records may be kept for a limited period after account deletion.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organisational safeguards designed to protect information. These may include HTTPS, password hashing, session protection, access controls, CSRF protection, validation, rate limiting, backups, and activity logs.
No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Users are responsible for protecting their passwords, devices, email accounts, and verification codes.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may be able to:
- Access or correct your account information.
- Edit, close, or remove your reports.
- Request deletion of your account and associated personal information.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw optional location permission through your browser or device.
- Request a copy of certain information associated with your account.
- Report inaccurate, unsafe, fraudulent, or privacy-violating content.
Some information may be retained where required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or dispute resolution.
10. Children
KindFind is not intended for young children to use independently. A parent, guardian, school, or responsible adult should supervise any minor using the platform, especially when communicating with another person or arranging an item return.
Minors should never arrange private meetings with strangers or disclose private contact or location information without adult supervision.
11. International use
KindFind may be accessed from different countries. Information may be processed or stored in a country different from the user's location. Where required, we will seek to apply appropriate safeguards for international data handling.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the service, law, or our data practices change. The revised version will show a new effective date. Material changes may also be communicated through the website, application, or account notification.
13. Contact KindFind
Questions, privacy requests, correction requests, and account deletion requests can be submitted through the KindFind contact form.
